In standard DC casting systems, cooling water comes into direct contact with the metal surface. This causes abrupt cooling differences on the surface and increases crack risk. In the Air-Casting system, the air curtain placed below the mould delays direct water contact with the metal surface during solidification. Result: a more uniform solidification front, better surface quality and less need for surface machining.
