Why a VPI Impregnation System?

🔵

Void-Free Full Penetration

Air is evacuated at the molecular level with 0.7 mbar deep vacuum; resin is forced into the smallest capillary voids under 10 bar pressure. Windings achieve a 'block marble' hardness structure.

Large Part Capacity

Autoclave with Ø3,000 mm inner diameter and 6-tonne loading capacity; processes large traction motors and wound equipment in a single cycle. Daily capacity of 4 traction motors.

🎛️

Fully Automatic PLC Control

Siemens / Schneider-based PLC and HMI panel; stores process recipes and ensures a repeatable cycle every time. Pressure, temperature and vacuum are monitored in real time.

🛡️

CE-Certified Pressure Vessel

AISI 304L stainless steel body, PED 2014/68/EU compliant design and Notified Body approval. Silicone varnish prevents chemical reactions, providing long-lasting corrosion resistance.

System Components

The VPI plant consists of three main machine groups: the Main Autoclave, the Solution Storage & Conditioning Unit, and the Vacuum/Pressure System. Each component operates in an integrated manner through the PLC automation layer.

Main Tank — Autoclave Ø3,000 mm inner diameter, 3,600 mm total length. AISI 304L stainless steel, 20 mm wall thickness. External half-pipe serpentine heating jacket. 2 pressure-resistant inspection windows.
Solution Storage Tank 5-tonne capacity, same material as the autoclave. Resin is maintained at 35–40 °C to preserve pot-life. Insulation-coated, double-walled heating system.
Vacuum & Pressure System Staged vacuum pumping to reach 0.7 mbar. 10 bar working pressure via nitrogen or compressor. Safety valve and automatic pressure relief system.
  • Low-viscosity resin application at 60–80 °C process temperature
  • Cross-linking at 165 °C curing temperature
  • Class C Silicone Varnish (ELANTAS EP 411) compatible
  • Process recipe storage and reporting
  • Alarm, E-Stop and emergency pressure relief system
  • NDT-approved welds, pressure vessel CE certificate

Impregnation Cycle in 6 Steps

Each cycle is managed by the PLC; process parameters are automatically recorded and reported.

01
Preparation

Loading

Traction motors or wound equipment are placed in the autoclave. The lid is sealed hermetically.

02
~30–60 dak

Deep Vacuum

The vacuum pump reduces pressure to 0.7 mbar, evacuating air and moisture from the windings at the molecular level.

03
60–80 °C

Resin Fill

Heated silicone varnish is transferred to the autoclave at low viscosity; it penetrates the windings under vacuum.

04
10 bar

Pressure Application

Nitrogen or compressor pressure mechanically forces resin into the smallest capillary voids. Full penetration is achieved.

05
Recovery

Draining

Excess resin is returned to the storage tank. System pressure is controlled down, parts are unloaded.

06
165 °C

Curing

Chemical cross-linking is completed in the oven. Windings achieve a hard, void-free and hermetic structure.
